Cooling Off With Rain And Southerly Winds
I J er Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. Pressure has remained high to the east of New Zealand but a depression is now advancing across the Tasman sea towards the North Island. Winds: Variable, but mainly between north-east and south-east, light to moderate at first but freshening about and north of Cook Strait; southerlies will be extending over most of the Dominion within the next 24 hours. Seas (New Zealand waters): Smooth to moderate but rising north of East Cape and a considerable easterly swell on all the east coast. Eastern Tasman sea: Strong northeast winds later backing to southerly with rough seas in the northern portion but moderate to fresh east to southeast winds and moderate seas in the southern portion. Weather: Cloudy, warm and humid with scattered rain. Later rain will be becoming more general and some heavy falls are likely with thunder in places. Temperatures will bo becoming cooler during to-morrow.
