Press Approves War On Football Retting

(British Official Wireless.) Received Monday, 7 p.m. RUGBY, Feb. 23

Practically all British newspapers express approval of the reported decision by tho ITootball League to wage drastic war on football pools, a form of credit betting which has grown to tremendous proportions in the last year or two.

The decision to cancel all League fixtures for the rest of the season and arrange that the teams to visit clubs with home matches shall not be announced until, the day before the game is played, involves a measure of inconvenience to clubs and is thus an indication of their determination to rid football of the betting peril which, in the opinion of many, threatens to affect the best interests of the game.
