When the Eight Rev. F. A. Bennett, Bishop of Aotea-Eoa, laid the foundation stone of the new Anglican church at Putiki Pa on Sunday afternoon, the ceremony added quietly another link of historical association with the past. Already three churches, the first built about 1840, have succumbed to age, and the fourth one, when completed, will perpetuate the work of both Maori and pakeha who have over many months subscribed to a fund in the vicinity of £IOOO to erect a place wherein both races may praise and worship.
