Per Press Association. GEEYMOUTH, Last Night. Following on the resignation of tho medical superintendent, Dr. J. W. Bridgman, and the matron, Miss N. J. Sullivan, a special meeting of the Grey Hospital Board last night was called to deal with the resignations of six of the eight nursing sisters at tho hospital who gave a mouth’s notice and jointly requested tho board to refrain from asking them to appear before tile boar* to discuss matters, 'incy lurtiier intimated lhat under Lhe conditions they felt they could not carry on in their positions. A sub-committee has been conducting an inquiry into the administration of the hospital, and following tho board’s refusal on a majority vote to accept tho voluntary resignation of a nurse who had resumed dutj r , the medical superintendent tendered xia resignation (three month's notice). Then the matron resigned on Friday night leaving next day for Wellington. The sisters’ resignations were received yesterday morning. The board decided by a majority vote of 6 to 4 to ask the sisters to state the reasons for their resignations, an amendment by the chairman that the medical superintendent and sisters be asked to withdraw their resignations being defeated. A member of the board, Mr James B. Kent, .also intimated his intention of resigning as he felt he was wasting his time on the board under the conditions existing.
