Wedding

FOSTER —MALCOLMSON,

Bowls of hydrangeas in pastel shades were used to decorate St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Feilding, for the marriage of Margaret Baird, second daughter of the late Mr and Mrs A. Malcolmson, of Feilding, with Colin Kiwa, only son of Mrs W. Sinclair and the late Mr J. Foster, also of Feilding. Rev. A. L. Dixon performed the ceremony and Mr A. E. Matheson presided at the organ.

Given in matrimony by her brother, the bride wore an exquisite gown of magnolia tinted satin, which was charming in its simplicity. The round neckline was carried out in numenus rows of faggoting, the same effect being introduced on the cuffs of the long tight fitting sleeves which were fastened with tiny satin buttons, while the skirt was moulded to the figure and finished in a sweeping train edged with kand-mado flowers of lace and satin. Her tulle veil which was lightly embroidered was arranged well off the face, and hold to her head with a dainty trailer of orange blossom. A pearl necklet, magnolia satin shoes, and a beautiful bouquet of cream gladioli and roses, intermingled with pink gladioli and fern were the finishing touches. There were two bridesmaids, Miss Betty Malcolmson, sister of the bride (chief) and Miss Marjorie Benge. Their dainty frocks were of pink floral chiffon veined in gold. The full bodices were shirred on to round yokes which buttoned down the back with gold buttons, while three gold lame roses adorned the fronts. The shirring was also carried out across the tops of the full puff sleeves. The skirts which were tight fitting to the knees and then very full were finished with two deep frills the lower one being split and cut away in front to show their gold slippers. Gold-plaited belts encircled their waists, and they wore gold halos ornamented with tiny side posies of pink forget-me-nots, pink silk gloves, and carried trailing bouquets of pink gladioli, tiger lilies, and asparagus fern, tied with ribbons to match their frocks.

Mr Howard Gardiner supported the bridegroom as best man, and Mr George Malcolmson, the bride's brother was groomsman.

As the bridal party proceeded down the aisle after the signing of the register, Margaret Knight, the bride's small niece, and Shirley Scotney, presented tho happy couple with silver horseshoes.

About fifty guests were later entertained at the Beresford tearooms where the usual toasts were honoured.

Mrs W. P. Knight, sister of the bride, received the guests wearing a smart frock of green floral slaro crepe relieved with beige, a green silk swagger coat, and a model hat. of beige bankok straw with touches of green. Her bouquet was of autumn tinted pompom dahlias and tiger lilies. Mrs W. Sinclair, the bridegroom’s mother, wore a navy and white ensemble, with navy straw hat. Her posy was of crimson roses and fern.

When the happy couple left later for the south, the bride was wearing a smart navy tailored costume, with a beige satin blouse daintily smocked, a navy baku straw hat, suede shoes, black stole fur, and carried a skin handbag. The wedding presents wore both numerous and costly, among them being a silver cako basket, suitably inscribed, from the members of St. John’s Tennis Club, a cheque from Messrs Bramweli Bros., Ltd., and an electric iron from the staff of the Feilding post office.

The bouquets which were much admired were made by Mrs S. Chesterfield, while the beautiful three tier wedding cake which occupied pride of place on the bridal table, was made by Mrs W. P. Knight. Mr and Mrs C. K. Foster will make their future home in Hawera.
