A' review of the principal North Island sales of the past week reveals: Markets generally firm; large yardings of store sheep but very few store cattle offering. , Moderate entries of fat sheep, meeting strong competition and moderate entries of beef selling at late rates. Rates generally unchanged over past month. Fat Cattle Stortford Lodge reports prime ox selling at £lO to £l2;' cows (beef bred) £0 15s to £8 f ss; heifers (beef bred), £6 to £S ss. At Westfield prime os beef continues to make to 325, as for past sis weeks. The yarding was an average one of 750 head, femalo cattle predominating. Quality generally, excellent. Small yarding of runners sold at 44s to 100 s; vealers sold at 31s to 7Ss. Fat Sheep Lambs selling at schedule rates. Ewes and wethers, coming to yards in only moderate supply, are making schedule rates and better. Prices tending to harden. At Stortford Lodge wethers made to 24s 13d and ewes 14s to 18s 6d. Store Cattle Negligible entries and values firm. Store Sheep Ewes fully firm on past rates. Lambs continue to show easing reported in this column last week, although reports vary. Some speak of firming, but the majority tell of an easing in lamb values. Dairy Stock A certain amount, of activity is reported in weaner heifers and in autumn cows. Weancrs now making 22s 6d to 355. Vealers selling at provincial sales at 80s to 40s. Autumn calving cows making £4 10s to £7 10s; boners, 20s to 35s generally; potter bulls selling freely, heavy-weights £3 10s to £5; light, 35s to 50s.
