Man Who Created Fate
TO ATTEMPT IT AGAIN Fred Dixon, the famous mo tor-racing “ace” ;who has, cheated death so often, means to tempt Fate again by making a bid to break the land speed record. It is learned here that he is going to leave Middlesbrough and move to “somewhere” in the South, where he will carry on his work on a new car design which, he thinks, will revolutionise the industry, states an English writer. Ho hopes that a car incorporating this new design will reach a speed of 350 miles an hour, and he means to make an attempt on the record at Utah some time this year. Dixon, according to his brother Frank, has a comprehensive racing programme for the coming season. He intends to race here and abroad with a Bugatti which he will alter. Fred will not race in ordinary British Automobile Racing Club meetings as he has no liking for individual handicaps. He considers that the handicaps imposed make success impossible once a driver has won. He means to compete at Donington, Brooklands, in the Ulster and French Grand Prix, and on the Continent,
