LAND ACQUIRED IN DEVON

LONDON, Dec. 14,

An area of about 240 acres of Watersmeet Valley, the famous wrnoded valley near Lynton and Lynmouth, in North Devon has been acquired for the nation by the National Trust. In making this announcement at a luncheon in London, the chairman, Mr. Nigel ' r ‘ond, said that, on the security of a bequest and owing to increased membership, the trust had been able to advance the balance of the purchase price. An appeal had been before the public for some three yearss. Mr. Bond also announced the completion of tno fund for the purchase of Bolbury Down, between Bolt Head and Bolt Tail, in South Devon, the largest stretch of coast -preserved by the trust.
