Burglar By Night

PLUMBER SENT TO GAOL LONDON, Nov. 30. A mother and her son and his friend were each sentenced at the Old Bailey recently to two years’ imprisonment. Henry Arthur Russell, aged 25, sanitary engineer, and Thomas Mann Hine, aged 24, radio mechanic, both of Ealing, pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing housebreaking implements by night and to six offences of housebreaking. They asked that 41 other cases of housebreaking and burglary might be taken into consideration.

Mrs. Margaret Hinc, aged 45, also of Ealing, was found guilty of receiving so£ne of the stolen property. It was stated that the- total value of the property was £2OOO and that the offences extended over two years. Detective-Inspector Wilins said that Russell was in regular employment until August last. “That was how he was able to fool the police," added the officer. “He was a plumber working in the district and the police thought he was an honest man. He worked by day and committed burglary .at night." Hine and Russell had known each other since they were at school.
