WELLINGTON, Last Night,

A rather shallow trough of low pressure lies in a north-west to south-east direction across the Tasman, the lowest pressure being east of Sydney. The pressuro is high over Tasmania. Winds: North to north-west, moderate to strong, backing to southerlies over the southern half of the South Island.

Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough to rough in the Cook Strait area, and rather rough at times in the far south; otherwise slight to moderate.

Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to fresh north-east to northerly winds, turning to southerlies in the southern portion.

Weather: Becoming unsettled, with rain developing at first in western and far northern districts, but later fairly generally. Temperatures warm.
