Dannevirke Show

The home industries section of the Dannevirko A. and P. schedule has been revised this year by a special subcommittee set up for this purpose. A separate schedule has ben printed, and is available for those who apply; £2 2s has been donated by the Power Board as prizes in the electric cookery classes, and exhibitors who have never won a first prize for cookery in any show are being encouraged with several classes. In an endeavour to obtain uniformity in the pound cake class, which carries the Buchanan challenge cup, a recipe has been inserted in the schedule, and exhibitors must conform to this for exhibits to qualify in this class. In the past, cakes of all sizes and weights, light and dark in colour, have been submitted to the judge, and this decision is the outcome of suggestions made from year to year by the judges. The needlework section has been revised to keep pace with the ever-changing fashions in regard to work being done witu the needle, classes out-of-date being replaced by more modern ones. Knitting has been given a special section this year, and a- separate judge has been appointed. Children over 12 and under 16 years may display their work done, while special classes have been included for those 12 years and under. Cookery entries close the morning of the show, but needlework entries close on Thursday, January 28.
