Bravery Rewarded
RESCUE PROM SAVAGE PISH SUVA, Dec. IS. Advice has been received from England that the Royal Humane Society has awarded its silver medal to Jone Draivnimasi, a 40-year-old Fijian, for attempting to save his nephew, Williame Uati, • aged 19, from the attack- of a barracuda, which, m Fijian waters, is a very savage fish. While bathing at Moloneowava Reef, in the Bua district, Williame was attacked by the lish, which bit of one of his arms. Jone swam to his ■assistance and then swam ashore with him, in the face of repeated attacks by the fish. Williame eventually died. The barracuda, or onga, as it is called in Fiji, is a very savage fish and is feared by the natives more than the shark. Even when captured .and landed in a boat, care must be taken that the onga does not inflict a severe wound Large onga may measure from eight .to ten. feet in Innirth
