Early Evening Wedding At St. Patrick's Church

FINDLAY—WILSON St. Patrick’s Church, Broadway, was the scene of a pretty early evening wedding ou December 27, when Joyce Gabriel, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs. H. J. J. Wilson, of Fcatherstone street, was married to Ronald Cooper, son of Mrs. Findlay, of Waipukurau, and the late Mr. J. P. Findlay. Tho decorations in the church had been most artistically carried out, Christmas lilies and hydrangeas being utilised on the altar further enhanced with bowls of rambler roses, tho seats for the guests being identified with posies of pink and mauve flowers. Tho ceremony was performed by Rev. Monsignor MacManus and Miss Cora Bartlett, L.A.8., played the wedding music.

Escorted by her father, .the bride looked most picturesque in a lovely frock of magnolia self-striped satin romaine. Tho corsage had a cape collar made with cowl effect edged with knife pleating and tho cowl sleeves wero also finished with pleating. The frock was slim-fitting and fiad a sash caught from the sides, the skirt merging into a train. She wore an amethyst pendant circled with pearls, which had been worn by the bridegroom’s mother, also a sprig of white .heather from tho Orkney Islands, which had been sent by an aunt. The veil of silk Honiton iaco which had been lent by a friend, was held to her head with a half-circiet of orange blossoms and formed a long train. She wore satin shoes and carried a sheaf of arum lilies.

Misses Myra and Phyllis Wilson, sisters of the bride, wero an attendance as bridesmaids, tho former in amethyst lace and the latter in cameo pink laco. The frocks were similarly fashioned with draped corsages and sleeves, tho cowl necks caught with brilliants, fhe skirts slightly trained. They wore picture hats of organdie and lace, also satin shoes, and carried floral horseshoes of carnations and sweet peas, till toning with their fi'ocks. Mr. J. Findlay, of Palmerston North, supported his brother as best man, and Mr. R. Findlay (of WelliugtonS, another brother, was groomsman. Tho ushers at the church were Messrs. J. Murphy (Palmerston North), and X. Findlay (Waipukurau). Guests wero later entertained at a reception at the. llosco tea-rooms, where the tables were arranged in horseshoe formation. Lovely Christmas lilies and gladioli graced the lounge and largo room. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson received the guests, the latter wearing a frock of navy floral georgette and navy straw hat, her bouquet being of carnation's. Miss M. N. Wilson assisted her mother, and wore a graceful frock of blue satin beaute with,silver lame trimming and a black picturo hat? " Mrs. Findlay had chosen black georgette-with a black hat and she ■ carried a posy of pink rosebuds. Miss J. Findlay, sister of tfio bridegroom, wore a crepe-de-chine capo ensemble in two tones of blue with beige straw hat. Tfio handsome square cake which was magnolia-tinted and stood in three tiers, had been made by the bridegroom’s mother. Monsignor MacManus was a genial toastmaster and during the reception Miss Myra Wilson delighted tho company with vocal solos, her numbers being “If My bong’s Were Only Winged” and “Tho Indian Love Call,” Miss Bartlett being her accompanist. Many congratulatory messages wero received by the young couple from relatives, including cables from Sydney. When the bride and bridegroom left later by car," Mrs. Findlay travelled in a smart navy blue torpedo crepe ensemble, the corsage ruched and finished with satin roses at tho neck-lino and a hat to tone. She wore navy gloves and skin shoes and carried a skin handbag. They will make their new home in Palmerston North.

Other relatives present included: Mrs. I. Norris (Palmerston North), sister of the bride; Mrs. E. Morrow (Bahotu) and Mrs. G. G. Scott (Taupiri), sisters of the bridegroom; Miss J. Wytkin (Hawera), Mrs. Holmes (Dannevirke), aunt of the bridegroom, and Mr. H. Findlay (Australia), brother of the bridegroom.
