After many false indications, welcome rain commenced to fall at duslc on Wednesday evening and thoroughly soaked the ground. A few late cuttings of hay are held up meantime. Miss Wilson has left for the capital city, where she is taking up nursing. Home from .a tramping trip in the vicinity of National Park is Mr. W. Vautier.

Mrs. J. Spall has left for Foxton beach on holiday bent, taking her son with her. Betty Carl is a small Levin visitor staying with the Woodd family.

Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Vautier and family are spending a few days at Kowhai prior to returning to their home in Wellington. Mrs. F. Kensington has her mother staying with' her for a few days. During the week two cars landed in the ditch at the eastern end of Te Matai road. A light vehicle belonging to Mr. Lassen was rather severely damaged, while the other car had to be hauled out from near Mr. Byers’ gate. Fortunately no one was badly hurt in either case. Miss Iris Woodd has left for Christchurch, -where she will be spending her holidays. Louis Lacey is having a holiday at Pahiata at present.

Tennis activities will recommence on Saturday when A and B teams will ha engaged in matches. The A team, which will journey over to Aokautere, will ba as follows:—Mrs. Oxenham, Misses C. and M. Vautier and E. Woodd, Messrs S. Oxenham, R. Gibbs and W. and I. Vautier. The B team will be at home to Bunnythorpe B, when the following players will he required:—Mrs. Shannon, Misses W. and E. Vautier, and M. Sly; emergency, Miss T. Newcombe; Messrs F. Kensington, F. Greene, F. Eable, H. Gore; emergency, P.'Koehler.
