BADGER CHALLENGE CUP
INTER-CLUB COMPETITIONS On Wednesday the Tutaekara Tennis Club was successful jn defeating the holders of the cup. Enthusiasm was shown by the number of clubs oil surrounding district which have interested themselves since the inception bi the competition. Following are the detailed scores, Tutaekara players being mentioned first:—
Ladies’singles: Miss L. Brown beat Mrs Kendall 7 —2, Miss M. Mabey beat Mrs Wills 7 —o, Miss E. Miller beat Miss A. Sievers 7 —2, Miss J. Henry beat Miss P. Ryan 7 —l. Men’s singles: J. Mabey lost to L. Sievers 4—7, Brown lost to P. Kendall 5 —7, N. Mabey (substitute for B. Reeves) lost to C. Lucas 5—7, M. Walker beat G. Coulter 7 —o. Ladies’ doubles: Misses Brown and Mabey beat Mesdames Kendall and Wills 7 —l, Misses Miller and Henry beat Misses Sievers and Ryan 7 —4. * Men’s doubles: Mabey and Brown lost to Sievers and Kendall 2—7, B. Reeves and Walker lost to Lucas and Coulter 5—7.
Combined doubles: Mabey and Miss Brown lost to Sievers and Mrs Kendall 7—4, Brown and Miss Mabey beat Kendall and Mrs Wills 7 —6, Reeves and Miss Miller beat Lucas and Miss Sievers 7—5, Walker and Miss Henrybeat Coulter and Miss Ryan 7 —l. It is understood that two further challenges are in from the Ballance and Mako Mako clubs. MANGAMUTU B TEAM The following B team will represent the Mangainutu Tennis Club in a match with the Ngaturi club during the weekend (to bo played on the Mangainutu courts commencing at 1.30 p.m. sharp): Ladies: Mrs W. Darley, Misses C. Wallis, M. Gunn, H. Horrax, J. Petersen and K. O’Brien. Emergencies: Misses M, Conder and D. Wallis.
Men: Messrs L. Heayns, S.' Matthews, W. Hounston, N. Morgan, W. Darley and J. Mills. Emergencies: W. Bentley and K. Lett. All players are asked to bring a 'platejV"
