Women's Round Table Club

ANNUAL MEETING HEIfD The annual meeting of the Women’s Round Table Club was held in the Y.W.C.A. clubroom last evening, Mrs Galbraith presiding.

Animal Report Tho annual report presented by the president stated: — "The year just closed must bo regarded as a successful one, as we have had some very instructive evenings and members have taken a keen interest throughout. The club has met on twelve occasions, and in addition to this held a farewell evening to Miss Ashton on tho eve of her .departure for Dunedin, and its annual dinner in September. Both these functions received splendid support from ci'ub members and their friends. The attendances on the whole have been very satisfactory, although one or two evenings were not well attended. The objects of the club have been steadily pursued throughout the year, and the measure of success attained must be regarded as very satisfactory. W.e have been fortunate in having two notable overseas visitors —Miss J. Begg, national general secretary of the Y.W.C.A. for India, Burma and Ceylon, and Miss A. Moncrieff, on the staff of tho Y.W.C.A. in China. Both these ladies gave us most inspiring addresses, which were very much appreciated. The club’s thanks are duo to the following speakers:—Rev. D. J. Davies, who spoke on “John Ruskin”; Mr K. Ross, on‘‘Modern Methods of Education in Russia”; Miss J. Stevenson, on “Geneva” and “International Affairs”; Mr Gordon Gibbs, on “Plant Diseases”; Rev. H. L. Richards, on “Douglas Credit”; Dr. K. Dean, a series of three lectures on “Health—Bodily, Mental, and Spiritual”; Mr R. Billens, on ‘‘The Press”; Mr A. C. Zohrab, on “Literature.” “I wish ,to pi'aco on record the valuable services rendered by Miss Pascoe, who was secretary to the club from its inauguration until June last. Miss Pascoe found it necessary to resign, and the club was very sorry to lose her services in this capacity. The thanks of the club are due to Miss Bird, who has been our secretary since June. She also has proved very capable. Votes of thanks are also duo to Miss' Ashton and Miss Hindle, for the very valuable assistance they have given tho club. I would also like to thank the members of the committee for their good work, and all members for their support.”
