Duke of Buccleuch Dead

ROYAL WEDDING WILL NOT BE DELAYED United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Sunday, 8.20 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 19. The Duke of Buccleuch, father of Lady Alice Montagu-Douglas-Scott, the Duke of Gloucester's fiancee, is dead. Lady Alice Montagu-Douglas-Scott, accompanied by her elder sister, Lady Margaret, flew to Edinburgh from London in 24 hours, which is exceptionally fast time considering the stormy conditions. They' joined their mother aud tho family at tho bedside of their father, who died suddenly at 12.5 a.ra. Tho news was conveyed to their Majesties at Sandringham and to the Duke of Gloucester at Buckingham Palace. Tho death of tho Duke of Buccleuch gives no cause for further alterations in tho wedding plans. The evening party at the Palace, however, has been cancelled and tho afternoon .party at St. James Palace may also not bo held. The Duke of Buccleuch's funeral will take place on Tuesday. The Duke of Gloucester wilt' go to Bowhill tonight.

It had already been officially announced from Sandringham, with much regret, that owing to tho serious illness of the Duke of Buccleuch tho marriage of the Duke of Gloucester and Lady Alice Moutagu-Douglas-Seott would bo held privately on November 6 at Buckingham Palace Chapel instead of in Westminster Abbey.

Tho announcement means the cancellation of the procession for which rehearsals have just beeu'held, and of all pageantry. It is expected that tho arrangement for tho Archbishop of Canterbury to conduct the marriage will still hold.

The Duke of Buecleuck, the seventh to hold tho title, had been a naval officer and politiciau. He divided his interest equally betweou his Scottish and English possessions and took great pleasure in preserving ancient traditions.
