Eight-roomed House Destroyed by Fire

SETTLER’S EORTTTNATE ESCAPE Eire totally destroyed the eight roomed dwelling of Mr. J. Davison, No. 1 Line, Kairanga, early on Saturday evening, the reflection of tho blaze being visible from tho city and drawing a long line of motorists to the scene. Tho nearest neighbours are only across tho road but as they were in the back portion of their home they did not know of the tiro until they had been warned. It had been Mrs. Davison’s intention to retire early and had she dono so it is considered that she w r ould have bad a far less chance of escape.

Others who had been attracted to tho scene found that they were unablo to save anything in the way of furniture.

The building was insured, but the amont was not known last evening.
