Feilding Swimming Club

ANNUAL EEPORT. The following is the annual report of the Fcilding Amateur Swimming Club: —The season has been a very successful one, both financially and from the members’ point of view. The membership roll stands at 47, 21 seniors and 2(5 juniors. The club was fortunate in being able to send Miss P. Sporle to tho New Zealand senior championships at Auckland and although Miss SporJe was not successful in, the champion events, sho put up a very creditable performance. Tho undermentioned Manawatu championships were won by tho following club members: Ladies’ 50 yards champion, Miss P. Sporle; ladies’ 100 yards champion, Miss P. Sporle; ladies' championship dive, Miss D. Sargisson; 75 yards intermediate girls’ breast champion, Miss P. Broad; 100 yards ladies’ breast champion, Miss P. Broad; 100 yards men’s champion, free-style, Mr. C. McColl. The club cups were won by the following: Parsonage Memorial Cup, Mr. P. Harford; Haybittle Cup, Master T. Dewe; ladies’ Fisher Cup, Miss P. Sporle; girls’ Fisher Cup, Miss F. Johnson; Bramwell Cup, Mr. P. Eadc; Eade Cup, Mr, E. Eade; Bangitikei Cup, Mr. D. Simmons; ladies’ points cup, Miss B. Harford; men’s points cup, Mr. G. Grindrod: boys’ points cup, Master T. Dewe. Night swimming again proved quite popular, the nett profit on same amounting to £3 5s lOd. We held club night also once a week, the club members keenly contesting tho events for the points cups. "Wc conducted one carnival during the season, which proved itself very successful, finishing up with a nett profit of £24 18s lid. At the close of the season, the committee organised an invitation dance. Although the nett profit for this only amounted to 10s 7d the dance was well worth having, and was enjoyed by all thoso who attended and we sincerely hope that wo shall be able to make this into an annual affair. The club’s best thanks aro due to the Borough Council for paying £5 towards cost of a new diving board, which was badly needed. Tho report concludes with thanking Mr. P. G. Guy and the local Power Board staff for the provision of electric lighting during tho carnival evening and the ladies’ committee for its great help.
