Two New Professors For Lincoln College

PRESENT DIRECTOR TO BE RETIRED. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. Important staff changes were decided on by the Board of Governors of Canterbury Agricultural College at Lincoln at a special meeting to-day. These include the termination of the appointment of the Director (Professor R. E. Alexander, C.M.G.) as from December 31, 1036, and the appointment of two professors of agriculture. Applications for the two professorships in agriculture will be called early next year. One of the professors will be appointed Director of the College.

The board met in committee and the following statement was subsequently released: “That in order to continue the proper balance between the plant husbandry and animal husbandry departments Ihe board has decided to appoint two professors of agriculture and that to facilitate this arrangement the engagement of the Director should be terminated; that Mr. J. IV. Calder bo appointed acting head of the plant husbandry and agricultural botany department at an increased salary, Mr. Calder to have as assistant a temporary lecturer who will receive a salary of £3OO. Mr. Calder and his assistant will begin their duties on January 3, 1036.”
