From Our Own Correspondent. A Striking Visitor. A figure which attracted considerable attention and whose identity caused not a little speculation from the large crowd which visited the Foxton races on Saturday, was that of Miss Nita Rosslyn, better known as “The Girl in Red,” who was an interested spectator on the lawn in company with the Mayoress (Mrs. M. E. Perreau). * Tennis Dance. A dance held under the auspices of the Foxton Tennis Club on Saturday evening proved to be a most successful one, the Masonic hall being sompleteiy filled with dancers who spent a most enjoyable time. Tho duties of M.’sC. were carried out by Messrs R. Read (club captain) and A. Anderson, and the music was supplied by a professional orchestx-a from Levin, extras being contributed by Mrs. M. A. Ross. During the evening a lucky Gad Gordons dance was won by Mr. A. Tayior and Miss 11. Hartley. Supper was served by members of the social committee, after which dancing was resumed and continued until midnight. Members of the committee desire to sincerely thank Mrs. M. A. Ross for the assistance she gave in connection with tho function. Personal.

Miss'K. Carmont is at present visiting lier parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Carmont, of Johnston street. Mrs. Seeker has returned to Palmerston North after spending a holiday in Foxton.

The deatli occurred iu the Palmerston North Hospital on Friday of David Taltarua, a young native of Himatangi. The death took place in the Palmerston North Hospital on Friday of Douglas William, the 12-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. H. IT. Procter, of Oroua Downs. Shipping.

After being bar-bound for several days the m.v. Foxton crossed the bar outward hound for Lyttelton at 3.30 on Friday afternoon. Tho m.v. Huanui with a cargo of cement from Tarakolie crossed Inward on the same tide and discharged part of her cargo the same evening. Unloading was completed on Saturday and the vessel sailed for Wellington in the early hours of Sunday morning.
