CENTRE ACTIVITIES FOR YEAR
The president’s report to be presented by Mr J. A. Nash, M.P. to the annual meeting oil tho Manawatu Bowling Centre, reads as follows: — “Tho past season has been a very successful one, and visits were made by the Centre to Hawke’s Bay, playing at Napier and Hastings; to Wellington and Wanganui, and a gala day at Bulls. Fifteen rinks journeyed to Hawke’s Bay and sixteen to Wellington, and the usual complement for the Centre match at Wanganui. Visits wero also paid to our Centre by Wellington, Hawke’s Bay and Auckland South Centre. All these games wero most enjoyable. Two rinks from our Centro look part in tho Comiuion Bowling Association, being skipped by Mr T. E. Arnott and J. A. Nash. The club was also represented at the Rotorua tournament by a team skipped by Mr N. ill. Nash. The New Year’s pairs attracted 44 entries,' but Biter the first day’s play, owing-to the inclement state of the weather, the tournament had to bo abandoned. The Faster tournament was a great success, there being no less than 44 entries. The winners were: —Messrs L. Hyman, J. Gibson, F. White, H. Perry, skip (Thorndon Club); the runners-up, Messrs. If. Green, G. Tremain, A. E. Kersiakc, W. B. Crump, skip (Palmerston North Club). It was generally admitted by all who watched the final, that it was one of the best exhibitions that wc have ever had at,our .tournaments. In the Champion of Champions competition, tho singles was won by Mr J. S. Martin (of the Oroua Club), the' runner-up being, Mr J. Kershaw (Terrace End). Pairs: R. Rooroand J. M. Thompson skip (Foxton Club); tho runners-up being W., Bull and P. Clement . (Levin Club). Rinks: Tawa--hai Efucra, R. Heppncr, R. Roore and J. M. Thompson, skip (Foxton club); the,'runners-up being Messrs-W. Hunter, R. Porter, H. Proece and R. R.' Barnes (skip).' ' “Tho veterans’ competition was well .contested this year, the numbers ■ increasing to 14 "rinks. Tho winners >vere: Messrs- Duncan, Rogers,- Dewc and' J. Bartholomew, skip (Feilding club). It will bo noted from tho bal-ance-sheet that the year ended with a credit balance of £25 4s 4d,' and that the centre cash assets amount to £SS 18s 6d. I desiro to thank the members of the centre, also the executive, for their kindly co-operation and assistance during the past year.”
