From Our Own Correspondent New Wrestling Club. The popularity of wrestling in and around the Rangitikci district has given rise to the formation of a new club in Marton, a large and enthusiastic meeting of mat fans having decided to run a tourney in Marton on Tuesday, September 10, under the auspices of tho Marton Wrestling Club, which body is to be affiliated with the Rangitikci Wrestling Association. Mr Ken Fowler was in tho chair at the meeting. Officers were elected as under: Patron, A. Stuart Esq., M.P.; president, Mr K. H. Fowler; vicepresidents, Messrs W. B. Simpson, H. R. Gaisford, A. Way and N. Crabbe; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr S. B. Abel; committee, Messrs A. Todd, R. Bland, J. Dickson, R. Ormond, G. Fitches, W. Jackson, A. Smart:, W. Webb, C. Aitken, J. Hart, J. Jensen, A. Barr and T. Waldron. Messrs Fowler, Bland and -Abei were deputed to arrange matches for the programme, which will include a lightheavyweight professional bout and four amateurs. Tho refereo will be Mr R. Whittaker, of Utiku. At tho conclusion of tlie meeting, Mr Fowler was accorded a vote of thanks for his efforts in organising the meeting. Miniature Rifle Shooting. The weekly shoot of the Bulls Miniature Rifle Club attracted a good attendance, and the following scores were recorded: It. McKenzie 70, 70, 140; D. Bundy 63, 70, 133; C. M. Broughton 70, 69, 139; L. Huddleston 68, 70, 13S; L. Anderson 68, 69, 137; E. M. Broughton 68, 68, 13G; C. Anderson 6S, GS, 136; N. Amon 6S, 67, 135; P. Thorby 67, 66, 133; S. Last-Harris 68, 63, 133 ; T. Eller 66, 64, 130; It. White 66, 53, 2S; 11. Mansell 59, 68, 127; G. Ellery 61, 63, 127; J. Hart 59, 67, 126. Parewanui School Dance. Once again tho popularity of the Parewanui school dances has been demonstrated to a very marked degree, and everyone who attended Thursday night’s function in Bulls had a most enjoyable time. A band of live players from Palmerston North supplied music, and Mi Lea Sanson was M.C. A novel “excuse me” dance in which the men received a smack with a paper bag as a signal to relinquish their partners, caused much fun, and .the Monte Carlo waltz had a largo field of contestants, tho ultimate winners being Miss E. Wasson and Mr A Young. For the non-dancers there was a euchre tourney, and the winners in this section were Miss M. Teko and Mr E. Sayers. Mr W. Hart, the energetic secretary of the committee, is to be commended for the efficient manner in which ho organised the dance. General News. Four members of the Bulls basketball team havo been selected to play in the Te Hawaii Association's representative match shortly. They are Mrs Colo and Misses J. Button, M. Harvey and E. Wightman, the latter being emergency. There was a good attendance at the erlbbage evening organised in the town hall on Wednesday evening in aid of the Bulls Bowling Club. The ladies’ prize went to Mrs F. Simpson and Mr S. W. Ingram, another Ohakea resident, won the men’s prize, playing off tho final with Mr Harry Bowden. Farmers in and aronnd Bulls have had more than a sufficiency of rain and dairymen, especially, have been practically living in gum boots as they go about their many labours. Tho sheep men arc having their troubles too and newlyborn lambs are being subjected to intense extremes of weather with alternating showers of rain and hail. Reports from Ngaio station reveal a, serious loss among ewes and the caso at Flock House appears to be bad also, tho farm manager (Mr J. G. Mitchell) telling tho writer that it was the worst lambing season' that had been experienced at .the institution since he

bad been connected with it. Odd cases of sleeping sickness have been experienced at Flock House but the main cause of mortality among the sheep can be attributed to the weather of the past year. Other reports from breeders are to til effect that' a form of paralysis is attacking tho ewes, and one famer told the writer that he had combated the malady by pumping the animals up with a bicycle pump as is done with cows stricken with, mills fever.
