APPROPRIATIONS SHOW FURTHER INCREASE

A further increase in appropriations

is recorded by the directors of the

Palmerston North Co-operative Building Society (Starr-Bowkett) in their report to be presented io the annual meeting next week. They state: — “It is satisfactory to report that the volume of business in the various groups has been steadily maintained. Tho total subscriptions, £S39O 9s, paid in representing the actual savings by members show continued confidence in tho society. The total amount of appropriations, £l-1,200, shows an increase of £6OO as compared with last year, bringing tho total of loans to members to £359,030 since the society was formed. The total subscriptions to tho credit of members amounts to £95,013 9s.

‘‘No. 3 group (January, 19.16): Tho final appropriations in this group have now been paid and subscriptions totalling £IO,OOI credited members’ loans. A balance of £2630 10s is payable to members in cash. The first ballot for tamo will bo held at tho annual meeting. Tho sum of £llOO was advanced oti loans during the year. Tho balance to profit and loss account amounts to £602 13s Id, the number of shares being 271,

"No. 4 group (August, 1916): The sum of £I4OO was drawn by ballot, £557 Cs 6d subscriptions were returned to members in lieu of taking up ballots. The balance to profit and loss account amounts to £922 3s -Id, the number of shares being 271.

"No. 5 group (May, 1919): The sum of £2IOO was drawn by ballot, but shareholders accepted subscriptions of £7S7 2s Sd in lieu of taking up loaus. Tho balance to profit and loss account amounts to £869 12s Od, the number of shares being 2SS.

"No. 6 group (January, 1921): The sum of £4500 was allocated during the year, £3OOO by ballot and £ISOO by tender. The balance to profit and loss account amounts to £34IS 19s sd, the number of shares being 033.

"No. 7 group (September, 1923): The sum of £2500 was allocated during the year, £2400 by ballot and £IOO by tender; £228 6s subscriptions being returned to members in lieu of taking up loans.
