MANAWATU DEFEAT GONVILLE An inter-ci’ub Badminton match was played ia the municipal hall on Saturday, where a most enjoyablo evening was spent by all players. The standard of play was high and some very even matches were contested, the Manawatu Central club defeating the Gonvillo club (Wanganui). Tho detailed results of the matches are as follow, Gonville players being mentioned first: —
Ladies’ singles.—Miss N. Cornish lost to Miss T. Roddcn 11—15, Miss M. Pawson lost to Miss P. Roddon 12—15, Miss G. Meuli beat Mrs K. Dean 15—10, Miss B. Craig lost to Mrs S. New G—ls, Miss S.\ Meuli lost to Miss N. Orchard 12—15, Miss A. Vcitch lost to Miss C. Neaglo 11 —15.
Men’s singles. —A. Holroyd beat P Cope 15 —4, It. Russell beat O’B Beckett 15 —4, R. Broad lost to B Hill S—ls, N. Cullen lost to R. Dun calf o—ls, D. Fisher lost to J. Rev nolds 10—15, E. Scoullar beat B. Bos worth 15—10.
Ladies’ doubles. —Misses Cornish and Pawson lost to Misses T. and P. Roddeu 12—15, Misses G. Meuli and Craig lost to Mrs Dean and Mrs New 11 —15, Misses S. Meuli and Vcitch lost to Misses Neaglo and Orchard 14 —17. Men's doubles.—Holroyd and Broad lost to Cope and Beckett 13 —15, Russell and Cullen lost to Hill and Duncalf 10 —15, Fisher and Scoullar losf to Reynolds and Bosworth 10 —15. Mixed doubles. —Russell and Miss Pawson boat Cope and Mrs Dean 15— 10, Broad and Miss Cornish lost _ to Duncaif and Miss T. Roddcn 11—15, Holroyd and Miss G. Meuli beat Beckett and Miss P.
