Mussolini Talks War to Troops

The Daily Telegraph’s Baris correspondent says Baron Aloisi after being informed that France "wholeheartedly supports Britain’s demand that the dispute should be settled "with no recourse to war, telegraphed Mussolini, whose reply, which is expected to-day, will determine whether the present talks can be continued.

Paris reports that Baron Aloisi has not received instructions from Mussolini. Accordingly the morning conference lias been postponed. It Avas hoped it Avould resume in the afternoon.

A Rome message says that while Baron Aloisi Avas seeking to make contact Avith Mussolini the Duec driving his oavii car visited 12,000 troops Avho arc sailing from Naples to-monw. During the day a report emanated from Rome that the Abyssinia ns had attacked tribesmen in French- Somaliland. It Avas alleged 100, including 20 French subjects, were killed.

The “Telegraph's” Djibouti correspondent says that the French authorities owing to Somalis' strong sympathy with their Abyssinian neighbours are taking unusual precautions to preserve order in the territory in the event of an ilalo-Abyssinian war. The cruiser Dumont Duvilh; will arrive on August 18th as guardship for the port. The wire defences are being strengthened and additional hangrrs are being constructed for ten aeroplanes, which are expected shortly, making a total of fourteen. Four six-inch guns arc also being mounted at Heron Island, conmunding the approaches to the harbour roadstead. 4 The desert behind the town, which at- present has a small native garrison, this also is being reinforced by 1000 Senegalese.
