Felling Agricultural High School

COMMEMORATION CELEBRATIONS. To-morrow tho Feilding Agricultural High School will commence the celebrations in connection with Commemoration Day which falls on Wednesday next. Tho usual Cburcli service will, this year, be hold in tho School Assembly Halt when the preacher -will be the Rev. Mr Thompson, of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Feilding. Ho will be assisted by Mr K. Nicholson, an old boy of the school, who is studying for the church.

Throughout next week there will be a number of gatherings associated with the founding of the school and these will bo attended by ex-pupils from all over the Dominion. Commemoration Day proceedings will bo held in the Assembly Hall and tho speaker will be Prof. Von Haast, who will tako for liis subject tho life of his distinguished father, Iho late Sir Julius Von Ilaast. During a very activo career, tho late Sir Julius, who was a Fellow of the Royal Society, mado many valuable contributions to the store of our knowledge on the flora and fauna of New Zealand. He made exhaustive research into questions relating to tho moa and his great work was acknowledged with a richly deserved knighthood. He was a closo friend of the late Canon Stack who first saw the light of day in a Maori pa in the north in 1535 and who spent the larger part of his ecclesiastic career in the South Island where he assisted the late Sir Julius in tho gathering of knowledge of tho early Maori. Prof. Von Haast should have an interesting story to tell tho gathering on' Wednesday next.
