Certified rye-grass gave a Colyton farmer a line return last autumn. From an area of over 100 acres he averaged 30 bushels per acre. The wholesale price of the seed was around 7s per bushel. Only three months’ grazing was lost from the area harvested, and this at a time when the grazing could be best afforded, from November 1 to the end of January.
