A Valuable Find
SPERM WHALE CARCASE WASHED UP. Per X , ress Association. BLENHEIM, July 24. A French Pass settler lias found 1!:e badly decomposed carcase of a 70-foot sperm whale, washed, up on the beach a mile or so from his homestead. With the advice and assistance of two practical whalers, he braved the mephytis, and his hardihood and labour were, rewarded in spP of crude equipment with 1432 gallons of oil, valued at about £2OO, while the teeth are probably worth about £BO 'or £9O. The party are regreitul that there was no ambergris in evidence. ,
