Improving and Cold
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. Tho depression covering New Zealand is to-day centred north of tho Bay of Plenty. An anti-cyclono is situated over Eastern Australia and is moving on to the Western Tasman Sea. Winds: Southerly to south-westerly strong and still of gale forco at places in and north of Cook Strait but gradually decreasing; elsewhere moderate. Seas (New Zealand waters): Bough to high north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, moderate thence southwards. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong but decreasing south-west winds in tho northern portion with rough seas; moderato southerly winds veering to westerlies in the southern portion with moderate seas.
Weather: Unsettled and squally north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura with rain at times and some heavy falls on the East Coast; scattered showers in tho East Coast districts of the South Island; still mostly fair in Westland and conditions gradually improving elsewhere. Temperatures cold.
