From Our Own Correspondent. The representative ladies’ basketball team of the Te Kaw.au Union to play Fuxton at Fox ton uu duly 10 has been chosen as follows: Goal-throwers, Airs AV Davison, Aliss E. Buddy, Aliss E. Knox; centres, Aliss A. Goldfinch, Aliss P. Duffy, Aliss E. Eumsden; defence, Aliss A. Kereliana, Aliss Al. bcotl and Aliss .1. AlcBrearty. The emergency is Aliss A". Kennedy. The result of last week’s competition in the To Kawau A grade was as tollows: lvopane defeated uroua Downs, s—s- - defeated Rangiotu, ;;— 2; Rosina defeated Rongotea, 25—22. There was a fair attendance on Friday evening at the fortnightly euchre held by t.ho Anglican Church .Social Club, weal her conditions being unfavourable. However, those present spent a most enjoyable evening with cards followed up oy supper and dancing. Air K. llobbs won the men’s prize, the consolation going to Air Don Hancox. Airs F. Wright and Miss V. Bottcher lied for first place, Airs Wright eventually proving the winner. The ladies’ consolation was also well contested, Aliss .1 ill Bower winning the cut. The Rongotea thirds playing on _ the Sandon ground defeated Snndon 11—9. The Rongotea juniors playing at Itongotea were defeated by Sanson B—s.8 —5. With Best Wishes. Several parties have been given lately for Air I. Lowe and Aliss T. Eainiigan, who are shortly to be married. Friends met last week at the residence or Air Rowe senr. for a pantry evening arranged by Air and Airs Edwin Rowe. A varied programme of music and games made time pass all too soon. Aliss Joan Maunder, of Palmerston North, contributed a musical monologue, iwo ’cello solos and a recitation. Songs by Aliss At. Rowe, Air D. Rowe, a piano duet by Alisses Maunder and Rowe, a recitation by Air N. Rowe and a piano solo by Aliss E. Rowe, completed a most enjoyable programme. Air E. Rowe then called on the guests of the evening to open the numerous parcels and to accept with them the best wishes of many friends. On behalf of Miss Bannigan and himself, Air I. Lowe returned thanks for the good wishes and many gifts. Supper was served and the singing of Auld Bang Syne and the National Anthem concluded a very pleasant evening.
