From Our Own Correspondent. On Saturday the seniors on their own grounds defeated Palmerston North Old Boys by 9 points to 6. Play was fast and very exciting. Outstanding in the forwards were K. Beard and E. Davey while in the backs W. Jarvis, M. and L. Moffat and T. Scott got through a lot of work. E. Beard and Chrystall were not playing on account of injuries. The local thirds journeyed to Ohakea, where they were defeated by 14 to 6. The ground was very heavy and muddy. Golf. The ladies’ stroke handicap competition played last Saturday resulted in a win for Miss J. Oyston with a good score of 44 nett. Other cards were as foilows: Mrs R. Shailer 46 nett, Mrs A. Hobbs 49 nett, Miss L. Fromm 53 nett, Mrs A. T. Nichols 54 nett, Mrs E. Conlan 56 nett, Mrs J. Veale 60 nett and Mrs F. C. Kaikes 63 nett. « The results of the men’s stroke competition over the week-end were as follows: J. A. Conlan 64 nett, J. Veale 69 nett, M. Moffat 72 nett, -It. Reay 73 nett, L. R. Moffat 77 nett, J. Reay 78 nett, R. A. Nichols 79 nett, W. Gordon SO nett, J. Conlan SI nett, R. Shailei' 84 nett, and A. T. Nichols 86 nett. Euchre. On Friday night the school euchre was held, when an enjoyable evening was spent. After the euchre a dance was held, the music being supplied by Mrs 1L Olliver, Miss Fromm and Mr J. JJall. The results of the euchre are as follotC: Ladies, Mrs Hart 1. Mr T. Scott, having played as a lady, won the cut off from Mrs J. Witton. Mrs J. Neale won the consolation. Men: R. A. Nichols won the cut off from Mr J.. Hull. Mr H. Olliver and Mr S, Shailer. j. Hall won the second prize. Messrs R. Curran, J. Conlan, J. Dench and F. Shailer cut olf for the men’s consolation prize. After presenting the prizes Mr A. Hobbs announced that one more evening would end the series >f euchres, that the children’s fancy dress ball would be held on August 16, md that the Women’s Institute would be tolding a euchre on July 11. Mr E. Conlan Is at present holidaying it Rotorua. Mr - and Mrs J. Connell and family are visiting Wellington.
