Boosting the Consumption of Cheese

DESIRE TO MEET THE PUBLIC TASTE At a meeting in Palmerston North of the committee set up by the cheese factory representatives of the Wel-lington-Hawke’s Bay provinces, a long discussion took place on the present unsatisfactory consumption of cheese in New Zealand. The committee considered that, while much of the cheese offered to the public was of the very best quality, the manufacturers did not know just what the public taste in this country required, and until this was remedied and the retail purchasers supplied with a satisfactory article, it was useless to look for any improvement in the local consumption. It was decided that the committee approach the Dairy Board to discuss tho matter of some action which would acquaint the manufacturers with tha quality aud maturity of cheese required by the public and to endeavour to initiate a system for supplying the local market with the most satisfactory choose which can be made, thus stimulating consumption of this very nutritious article of diet.
