Show Authorities Out To Please the Public

SUCCESS OF WINTER FIXTUFvE IS ASSURED

Need for the complete rearrangement of the method of displaying exhibits both competitive and non-competitive, so that the entries can bo seen to the best advantage, and at the same time provide a striking and spectacular effect, lias been recognised by the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association for its forthcoming winter show at Palmerston North. A new and a complete departure from the old and accepted method of display adopted by almost all the New Zealand shows up (o the present has found favour. Structural Alteration Made In keeping with this scheme an important structural alteration has been made by removing a 20-foot section of the wall between the entertainment and produce halls, tho alteration providing clear vision between two spacious sheds. At this stage, when workmen are busy preparing for the exhibition, it is not necessary to go into detail; suffice it to say that tho public generally will bo pleasurably surprised at the effect achieved with this alteration, together with flic streamers, and lighting, arrangement. Tho pyramid display of exhibits will undoubt cdly be received as a decided step forward.

The entrance to the entertainment hall, it will be observed, is now from the side door next to the oval. The end doors of both this and the produce hail will bo closed.

Notes of Interest On the initial day of the exhibition To Auto College in tho match against Palmerston North Boys’ High School exxicet, according to advice received yesterday, to put up an excellent Show-

ing. This year they declare their side to be a weighty one, but they are reluctant to discuss their actual strength. This notification should excite public interest, for some are inclined to imagine that the popularity of this match is dwindling. It is interesting to notice that tho Union Steam Ship Company lias generously lent approximately 140 llags for decorating the halls and vestibule. Others are lending house flags, which will be flown from the main flagstaffs. With the considerable amount of bunting possessed by the association itself the display of flags should bo outstanding.

Entries for all sections are still coming to hand per medium of tho mail and it is expected that the stock entries will increase to-day. Tho dog trials will bo very satisfactory, as the competitors have fallen into fine by responding excellently. Bright, snappy entertainment (fro’e of charge) is to be offered in No. 5 hall, where patrons may rest awhile and see some excellent talent on a specially constructed stage, 20ft square and 3ft high. Tho association is bringing performers from Auckland, while tho City Band is scheduled to play from 7.30 to 8 o’clock every evening. Seats are to be provided in. all halls whero possible for the comfort of patrons. With excellent entries in hand, innovations and everything being done to make the fixture sparkling and entertaining, tho association’s winter show —in its golden jubilee year—should prove an outstanding attraction during its season—June 19, 20, 21 and 22, day and night. Already it may bo mentioned that hotel bookings in the city for the show period arc being dealt with.
