COUNTY’S BAD START KEN JAMES OUT FOR "DUCK” United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. LONDON, Juno 5. Wickets fell cheaply during the first day’s play in the cricket match between the touring South African team and Northamptonshire, at Northampton. The homo team batted first and was dismissed for 129 runs, South Africa replying rvith 111 for five wickets before stumps. The former Wellington and New Zealand representative, K. C. James, made his first appearance for Northamptonshire. James was bowled for a ••duck” by Crisp, who captured six w'. sleets. The South African bowlers opened sensationally. Bakewell was caught behind the wickets off the first ball of the day, and three more wickets fell in half an hour for 11 runs. Cuthbertson played a valuable innings for Northamptonshire and carried his bat for a score of C 3. The South Africans batted quietly, until the score was 4S.
