The third of the series of euchre and dances held under the auspices of the Stanway Hail Association was held on Saturday evening, and despite adverse conditions, there was a pleasing attendance both in the dance hall and card room. Dancing enthusiasts are reminded of the Annual Ball which, as advertised recently, is to be held on Thursday next. A first rate professional orchestra will be in attendance and a sit down supper will be served in the supper room. The Ball committee is sparing no pains to make this function its usual success, and_ patrons are assured of all a dancer requires, a good floor, good music and a good supper A bus will run from Marton to Stanway on that evening and the faro will be one shilling. Boxing. Although there are not the number of glove artists attending this season, Stanway will still be well represented m the tournaments held this season. The two or three intend entering the ring in forthcoming tournaments are already training hard and will keep Up the reputation earned by the local boys last season. It is possible that the football club will not need the hall this Winter, and so the Boxing Club will have to be self-support-but several supporters have sigmliea their willingness to subscribe each club night to the rent, of the hall, and with this spirit behind it the club will be able to carry on in confidence. The only material required at present is a new set oi gloves and purchase of these should be possible out of donations and if the mail is paid for by nightly contributions, then the club lia3 nothing to fear. New members who wish to take up the noble art are welcome, provided they will show the necessary keenness.
