From Our Own Correspondent. A meeting of the general committee of tho hall improvement, fund was held on Friday, Mr H. A. Shepherd presiding over a good attendance. The report of the sub-committee appointed to receive tenders was submitted, and stated that the contract had been lei and that the work of renovation would be put in hand immediately the carnival was over. The lion, secretary reported that the Women’s Institute had undertaken to conduct various stalls on the day. The finalising of sports and entertainments were left in tho hands of Mr W. Hocken.

There was no local service on Arizac Day in Colyton, The members of the Returned Soldiers’ Association attended the celebration in Feilding. Many beautiful wreaths were placed on the war memorial, in the church grounds here. Members of the local hockey teams started their association matches on Saturday. The players are very keen, journeying to Feilding during the week of an evening to secure practice in the Drill hall there. The friends of Mr A. J. Redkbaw will regret to learn that he was compelled to enter hospital in Palmerston North for medical treatment. Mr A. Waldin is making progress in a private hospital, but it will be some time before he will be able to leave the institution. Miss Beryl Jefferies, secretary of the Women’s Institute, has returned from hospital and is convalescing at her home, Taonui road. ■ Mrs Cousins and family, "Haiinoe,” motored to Wanganui to attend the Easter celebrations of the Wanganui Boys’ College. .Mr Bruce McLeod, “Totoranui,” and Mr W. McLeod, senr., motored to Taupo to enjoy a week’s trout fishing before the close of the season. Mr and Mrs T. N. Shortall, “ Glenbourne,” have arrived home from Wellington after attending the St. Pats’ Old Boys . celebrations there. Mr J. Bussell, "Gittyshane,” is spending a. short holiday with his son at Takapau.-
