Technical School Gala Day
ANNUAL EFFORT TO AID FUNDS
Organised to assist tho funds of the school, pupils of tho Palmerston North Technical High School held a gala day, yesterday, tho beautifully flue weather assisting to make the function a successful one. The stalls were arranged in the open and hero also were conducted tho various competitions, held, as well as a display of folk dancing by girl pupils under the direction of Miss It. Bcnslead.
Mr. C. Dixon was responsible for the artistic decoration of the stalls on which weru arranged an abundance of saleable articles to attract the public. Through tho kindness of Mr. A. J. Berryman a programme of music was available from a wireless gramophone, and under the direction of Mr. G. G. Hancox and his willing band of helpers the financial returns should be most gratifying. Godfrey; flowers: * Mesdames M. Aitchison (convener) and F. Hardy; surprise packets: Messrs W. L. Birnio and W. L. Macpherson; afternoon tea and supper: Misses C. H. AlacGibbon, C. Vautier, D. Morgan and Mrs. Warner; putting: Messrs W. F. Goddard and T. R. Hoddcr; mystery: Miss J. Rennie; caricatures: Mr. N. A. Frye; weight judging: Mr. J. Walker; nail driving: Mr. D. E. Dredge; darts: -Mr. W. A. Bryden; baby show: Mrs. Essex; jumble stall: Mesdamesßarsanti Bartlett and Mclver; treasurers: Misses J. Rountree and L. Perrin; gate keeper: Mr. Steverson; posters: Mr. 11. L. Richardson; cocoauut shy: Mr. 8. J. Benuelt; badges: Mr. A. Cl. Richards.
The baby show drew M entries (open class under IS months) which were judged by popular vote aud resulted: Mrs. Pott’s child I, Mrs. Busst’s child 2, Mrs. Jensen’s child 3.
In the evening business was continued in the grounds which were gay with streamers of coloured lights, and a dance iu tho assembly hall drew many enthusiasls.
