From Our Own Correspondent. Birthday Party. On Friday evening u very enjoyable party was given by Mr. and Mis. Pat Parker in honour of the conung of ago of their daughter, Miss Vera Parker. The local hall nau been very tastcluily decor-, ated for tho occasion. Pink and white streamers were so draped us to form a canopy above tho guests white belladonna lilies and pimt asters adorned Lite stage. Two largo clusters of balloons, suspended irom the roof, completed a strining effect. The guests were received by Mrs. Parker, who was gowned in a u-oett or deep blue lace georgette and velvet.. alias Parker assisted her mother. Her gown was ot beautiful pale pink lace and taffeta with ruohing on Llie cape and sieeves and Blurt. Uver this she wore a winie fur evening coat, miss B. Parker lore a dress of green amoray velvet wiln white lur coai. Miss Pan;or was the recipient of many beautiful gilts and congratulatory messages, a large table being set aside for the display of tho gifts. Mr. D. Rowland, in proposing the toast of the guest ot honour, spone in eulogistic terms ot Miss Parker s capabilities and congratulated her oii attaining her majority. Mr. Parker suitably replied on ms daughter’s behalf. At a suitable juncture. Miss Parker cut her birthday cake, whicli was beaulilully iced, and formed a part of the colour scheme of the evening. -Much appreciated items were rendered by the following: Mrs. Amadio, Miss V. Corlce, Mr. Parker and Mr. G. NVhitelock, songs, the accompaniments being played by Miss E. Corkfc. A duet was sung by Messrs. 1. Fraser and D. Rowland jnr., while the "Bing Boys" sang Hawaiian songs, accompanied by guitars and ukuleles. Dance music was supplied by an Orchestra, while extras were played by Mrs. Amadio. C. Amadio made a capable M.C. Novelty dances were won by Mrs. Parker and Mr. Corko (Monte Carlo), and Miss G. Jones and Mr. J. Fletcher (spot waltz). Among those present were Mesdames Callesen in black lloral crepe-de-chine, M. Richardson. black georgette and lace; D. Rowland, wine crepe marocain; Jefirey, navy marocain; D. Morley, who has not been enjoying very good health of late, is away at Paraparaumu beach. Accompanying her is her daughter, Mrs. F. Vautier, and Mrs. D. Rowland. Mr N. P. Nielsen, who has been confined’ to his bed with an attack of influenza, is about again. Mrs. N. P. Nielsen is indisposed, having to rest in bed for a week or two. Mrs. Davies senr., who has been the guest of her grandson, Mr. W. Davies, and Mrs. Davies, has left for Feilding, where she is staying with her daughter.
