From Our Own Correspondent. Town Board Meetinri. A meeting of tho town board was held ou Monday evening, when there were present Messrs. L. H. Yarrall (chairman), hi. ,f. Arnott, T. Fraser, W. Amey and A. Trenner (clerk). Leave of absence was granted to Mr. W. A. Davison. News was received of the death at Marten of Mr. G. H. Davison, a former member of the board and a vote of sympathy with relatives was carried, members standing in. silence. An offer to purchase an unused piano in possession of the board, was accepted, the price being lIOs. The Hanawatu Automobile Association wrote offering to erect two signposts on the liongoteaLongburn highway (subject to approval of tho Minister of Transport) for i - Cs 6d.—Accepted. The application of Mr. A. C. Fades for the renewal of his billiard room licence was granted. The action of tho works committee in arranging for the supply of 40 yaids of metal at a favourable price was .approved. The execution of much necessary and important workon the hall and footpaths has been held up pending the. tar-sealing of the highway through Rongotea. it is expected that this latter work will be undertaken very soon. The board will then he able to set about: making other improvements before tho winter is far advanced.

Driving along Mill road, JCopanc, on Monday morning early, Mr. Adrian Rowe met with an accident. A cloml broke and In the downpour that followed he found it impossible to see the road and was driven into the ditch, the front wheel of his motor cycle being broken. Mr. Rowe's injuries were not serious and it is thought after a few days' rest, he will be üboui again. Harvest thanksgiving services were held in the Rongotea Methodist Church on Sunday. In the morning the preacher was Mr. N. Shelton (Feilding) and in the evening Rev. R. K. Fordyco. Rain interfered somewhat with the attendances. The choir rendered special anthems under the leadership of Mrs. C." Hamlin. .The decorations were very effectively carried out. On Monday evening tho festival was continued, when tho Rev. Fordyee presided. A brief blit excellent programme was rendered bp the following friends: — Rev. Fordyco is-ln). Mr. ,). Peacock (solo), Miss Joan Foster (recitation), Mr. j. Smith (solo), Miss B. Foster (solo). Then followed a sale of meat and produce under the direction of Mr. E. Print, the proceeds being in aid of the trust and circuit funds. Mr. Fordyee thanked all who assisted.
