Manawatu Bowlers Snatch a Victory

INTER-CENTRE GAME IS DECIDED AT WANGANUI

Scoring was close in an iuter-Ccutrc bowling match played at AVanganui yesterday when representatives of the Manawatu Bowling Centre visited the homo clubs.

Each side secured three and a-half wins but on the aggregate Manawatu was successful by a point., the scores totalling: Manawatu 165; AVangamii 164. The following are the details, with Wanganui rinks mentioned first in each instance: —

Torp, Martin, Kirk, London (s) 19 lost to Simmofids, Lawson, Brown, N. H. Nash (s) 22. Patterson, Willis, DoulJ, Patterson (s) 23 lost to Killick, Croucher, Bayliss, Paton (s) 34.

Low, Banfort, Jones, Beswick (s) 33 beat Kells, AVimsctt, Boniface, Lovelock (s) 23.

Jewett, Roberts, Handley, Hutchins (s) 24 beat Dredge, Guthrie, Stewart, Atkin (s) 15.

Goss, Green, Mickie, Scrivener (s) 16 lost to Nesbitt, Barltrop, Allen, AVenham (s) 24.

A rink expected from Foxton did not make the journey. The Manawatu players were welcomed by the president (Mr. Crawford) on behalf of the AVanganui Centre and he expressed pleasure at the visit, declaring that such contests cemented the friendship between bowlers.

In the unavoidable absence of the president (Mr. J. A. Nash, M.P.), Mr. O ’Shea returned thanks for the visitors. He expressed tho hope that AVanganui would visit Palmerston North early next season and that Manawatu would be able to return to the river-port after that. Manawatu, he pointed out, had already visited Napier, AA’cllington and AVanganui this year.
