Mr Stewart McDonald, of Dunedin City Council staff, is at present staying with his mother, Mrs 11. Dorrsen, Argyle avenue, Palmerston North. The King has approved the appointment of Sir Ronald Hugh Campboll (Minister at Paris) to be Minister at Belgrade, in succession to Sir Ncvil Henderson, who will bo relinquishing the post in the summer.—British Official Wireless.

Flight-Lieutenant S. A. Gibbons, of Wanganui, has been appointed pilotinstrufieor of the Canterbury Aero Club, succeeding Mr. R. A. Kirkup, who has accepted a position with Hast Coast Airways, Ltd. There were 12 applicants for the position.—Press Association.

Mr. J. Robertson, Dominion secretary of the Motion Picture Exhibitors’ Association, has been selected as the official Labour candidate for the Masterton seat. He formorly represented Otaki in the House of Representatives from 1911 to 1915. —Press Association.

The death occurred suddenly at Masterton yesterday morning of Rev. James Crocker, a former Methodist minister and prominent prohibition advocate. Ho was aged 73. Mr. Cocker was stationed at various times at Christchurch, Auckland, Wellington, Ashburton and Wanganui.

Representatives from every section of the community were present at the interment of Mr C. J. W. Barton at the Hamilton East cemetery yesterday. The funeral was an impressive one. Deceased was one of Ilamiltons’ oldest citizens, who served for many years on the borough council, hospital board and other bodies.—Press Association.
