OPIKI. A committee meeting was held on Monday, Mrs. G. Wilde presiding. Tho following nominations were received for tho now committee: Misses L. Carson, L. Cooksley, R. Ellery, D. Irwin, and M. Triggeli, Mesdames W. Irwin. J. Hansen, B. Norman, G. Wilde and R. Youle. As these did not exceed the required number, there will be no election at the annual meeting oil March 20. The competition for April is to be for “Something new made from something old.” It is hoped that printed programmes will bo available to members next year. Arrangements were made for the Linton W.l.’s visit to Opiki on March 8, when it will cooperate with local members in a concert and dance. An excellent programme, including the festival play, will be presented, as well as songs, dances and pianoforte items. Mesdames Wilde, Jackson and Larsen and Mr, Wilde have offered to prepare the stage for the evening.

PAPATAWA. The Papatawa W.I. held their annual meeting last Friday afternoon in the Victoria hall. The weather was all that could be desired, and the attendance was excellent. Mrs. Alartiu was in the chair and extended a very hearty welcome to all members and visitors. The beautiful linen cloth worked by members in i\ow z,eauuid designs was on view and excited interest. The entries in the patchwork . competition looked most attractive, and were judged by Airs. H. N. Horne, of Woodville. Mrs. Alunro was placed first in tho senior section and Aliss Jean Bradley in the junior section. Airs. A. Dickens was declared the winner of the competition shield for the past year. A bring and buy stall under the care of Alesdames Gillcland and W. Harding did good business. During the afternoon, Aliss V. Nelson delighted the company with two solos, beautifully rendered. Occasion was taken by three of the junior members to present tho retiring president, secretary and treasurer with beautiful bouquets. All three ladies suitably responded. One new member was welcomed. The retiring committee served a very dainty afternoon tea, and a very pleasant meeting concluded.
