Annual Swimming Fixture At Girls' High School

HIGH STANDARD ATTAINED The annual swimming sports of the Palmerston North Girls’ High School were held in tho High School baths in pleasant weather yesterday afternoon, when there was an interested audience of parents, friends, teachers and girls. It was gratifying to see such a number of visitors, and they were warmly welcomed by the principal, Airs AL Rhodes.

Entries were excellent for all events, easily exceeding those of last year, tho girls showing the. result of a long season, with the convenience of their own baths, in exceptionally keen swimming and good style. Onlookers were not slow to show their appreciation, and the girls barracked with enthusiasm for their respective houses, particularly during tho houso events. P. Lower (P.) proved tho winner of the senior championship and cup, gaining 25 points, while E. Edwards (G.). with II points, was runner-up, and D. Gibbs (0-), with 12 points, third. Tho winners of tho junior championship (under 15) proved to bo M. Franko (Br.) and M. Gow (P.), who secured 21 points each, while K. Snelling (R.) was runner-up with 7 points. Purple houso came out victorious with 69 points to its credit, the other houses in order being: Green 68, Orange 41, Brown 40, Red 11, and Blue 1. Points were awarded in the ratio of 5, 3 and 1. In the old girls’ race, tho winners were both ox-champions of the school.
