A Remarkable Operation
Surgeon Treats Misplaced Organs STOMACH UNDER GIRL'S SHOULDER United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.— Copyright. Received Tuesday, 7 p.m. FALL RIVER (Massachusetts) March 4. What is considered to be one of Hie most remarkable operations performed iu the United Elates occurred to-day when, in a clinical exploration, a wellknown surgeon and an expert regarding hernia, Dr. Philemon Truesdnle, put into its normal position in inverted stomach and other misplaced organs of tcn-ycar-old Alvec Jane McHenry.
Attended by a-large group of observing physicians, Dr. Trucsdaic, when the situation became apparent in all details in the operating table, found it necessary to take the stomach, which was upside down and up ..nder her shoulder in tiro left chest cavity, with all but two feet of her intestines, and spleen and appendix, and place them in their normal position. Alyce’s case, which attracted attention, was considered grave a'nd although she stood the twohour ordeal well, a physician declined a prognosis.
Dr. Trucsdaic said: ‘‘l don’t want anybody to sav this operation was a success, but I don’t wan' anyone to say it was the opposite.”
