Mr and Mrs. A Anderson Farewelled

SANSON FUNCTION Despite the sultry weather conditions on Monday night there was an excellent attendance at the Public hall to bid farewell to Mr. and Mrs. A. Anderson, who arc leaving the Sanson district to make their home in Auckland. The evening's entertainment consisted of dancing, interspersed with musical items as follow: —Mr. CL P. Fitzpatrick, vocal solo; Terence and Barry Anderson, vocal duet; Mrs. J. S. Trickor, vocal solo. At a suitable juncture Mr. H. J. Pagan called Mr. and Mrs. Anderson and family* to the stage, Mrs. Anderson being presented with a dainty posy by Pamela Butler. Mr. Fitzpatrick, president of the Cricket Association, said he had known Mr. Anderson for many y*ears and was sure there could not be found a better sport in the district. Mr. Anderson had always journeyed with the Saudon cricket team whenever they played at Feilding and maintained a straight bat whether they lost or won. Mr. A. N. Morcorn, as a representative of the Manawatu County Council, said the county was losing a very good man and they were sorry to see him go so far away. Mr. Morcom expressed similar sentiments on behalf of flic To Kawau Rugby committee and conveyed good, wishes for 1 success in his ’ now sphere. Rev. R. E. Fordyce, on behalf of .members of the Wesleyan \ Church, thanked Mr. and Mrs. .Anderson for their valuable assistance in the choir; also Terence and Barry-, who had always been willing to help whenever jiossibie. Mr. Fordyce also expressed his appreciation to Denis for the capable manner in which he had carried out his duties as assistant Scoutmaster. Mr. 8. L. Orr voiced the appreciation of the Cricket Club of his valued services, presenting to Mr. Anderson an illuminated address as a token of the esteem in which he is held. Mr. H. J. Fagan expressed the regret felt, by the residents in tho loss to the district of such good settlers. Mr. Anderson was a son of two of the worthiest pioneers of the district, the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl Anderson —the present hall had been built mainly through tho efforts of Mr. Carl Anderson, and Mr. a. Anderson had always given his best for the public. Ho was the first secretary of the Te Kawau Rugby Sub-union, also secretary for the Hanson.Bports Club, tho success of which was duo to his untiring efforts. On behalf of the residents, together with members of the Sports Club, Mr. Fagan presented Mr. and Mrs. Anderson with a wallet, with the hope that the future might hold much happiness and prosperity for them in their new abode. In his reply, Mr. Anderson said both he and ’ his wife appreciated the compliments paid to them, but they were sure one could not make a success unless there were good fellow citizens to stand' behind. So far as sports were concerned success was due to the influence of the incomparable patron, Mr. J. McKclvic. 'The enthusiasm of Mr. McKelvie had been, and still was, an inspiration to all. Mr. Anderson said it had been a pleasure for him to be president of the Cricket Club when the B grade championship was won and he wished the boys further success. He thanked the other speakers for their remarks and wished everyone not good bye, but au revoir.
