A bequest of approximately £3400 has been made by the -will of Mrs. Sophie Gardner to the Christchurch Presbyterian Social Service Association. The amount represents one-third of Mrs. Gardner’s residuary estate valued at about £IO,OOO. Mrs. Gardner, who died in September, was the widow of Mr. William R. Gardner, a well-known miller in Rangiora and Christchurch.
The Wellington Education Board decided yesterday to urge that legislation be introduced to provide for the adoption of the average Toll instead of the average attendance for all items for which the latter is now taken as the basis of calculation.
