Pathologist 's Services at Bayly Murder Trial
DEPARTMENT OF .JUSTICE CUTS BILL DOWN. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night. Advice that the Department, of Justice would pay £262 10s for the services given by Dr. Gilmour, pathologist at the Auckland Hospital, during the long murder trial of William Bayly, was received by the Auckland Hospital Board, which had previously sent in an account for £315. The finance committee reported that the amount offered by the department was inadequate, but it advised acceptance. A recommendation was adopted that in future Dr. Gilmour’s services should be made available in similar circumstances on application from the department, the charge to be on a scale commensurate with his salary and the expense of maintaining the hospital laboratory.
