Squadron-Leader J. D. Hcwett’s D.H. Dragon .Eapide, Tainui, which left Milson for Auckland a few minutes after 10 o’clock on Saturday morning, took 3i hours to reach the Queen City. The Tainui followed the cost line on its way north and the Puss Moth, piloted by Flight-Lieutenant D. M. Allan, which left Milson after the Tainui, took the direct line and reached Auckland some 20 minutes before the Tainui.
Leave has been granted the Stratford town clerk, Mr. P. Skoglund, to contest the next general election providing that the business of the coundil is not neglected. It has been persistently rumoured lately that Mr. Skoglund has been asked to stand for Labour. Mr. Skoglund would make no statement prior to the council meeting, but it is understood that he is willing to offer himself as a Labour candidate for the Stratford seat.
