Charming November Evening Wedding

RUSH —ROSE. On Thursday, Novembor 15, a very pretty evening wedding of widespfead interest in Palmerston North and district was solemnised at St. Patrick’s Church, Broadway avenue, when Winifred Martha, third daughter of Mr and Mrs E. J. Rose, of Rongotea, was married to Ambroso Joseph, eldest son of Mrs and the late Mr A. Rush, of Palmerston North. Tho officiating priest was Rev. Eather Herliliy. As she entered tho church escorted by her father, the bride looked charming in a lovely gown of ivory ring velvet, cut on classical lines with slimlitting corselagc, and on her shoulder a bow relieved with gold. She w r ore a beautiful veil of silk Honiton laco arranged to the head with Orange blossoms and carried a lovely arm sheaf of cream roses and maiden-hair fern, making a most pleasing picture.

The decorations in tho church were tastefully carried out by Miss Neaglo and friends of the bride, and the wedding music was played by Miss Cora Bartlett. Upon leaving tho church wee Pamela Lecher presented the bride with a big silver horse-shoe. Tho bride’s sister, Miss Theona Rose (chief) and Miss Edith Rose, attended as bridesmaids attired in pretty frocks of pink and blue sprigged crinkled organdie, w r itk lace mittens and hats and shoes to tone. They carried muffs and wore beautiful gold bangles, the gifts of the bridegroom. Little Clifford Eieldhouse made an excellent page-boy, wearing a nice suit of white satin.

Mr Andrew Johnston, of Wellington, carried out the duties of best man, and Mr Norman Rush, the bridegroom’s brother, was groomsman.

After the ceremony a reception was held at Messrs CoYlinson and Cunninghame’s tearooms, over 100 guests being received by Mr and Mrs E. J. Rose, the bride’s parents, and Mrs A. Rush, mother of the bridegroom. Mrs Rose wore a charming brown crepe do chine ensemble with hat and shoes to tone, and carried a bouquet of autumn-tinted flowers. The bridegroom’s mother was attired in a dainty frock of navy blue silk georgette with hat to match, and hold a bouquet of red blooms. The usual toasts were honoured, the health of the bride and bridegroom being proposed by Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., an old friend of the families. Ho referred to tho service rendered the public hospital by the bride, who for many years was on the nursing staff, latterly receiving recognition by promotion to a sistorsbip. Th 9 beautiful three-tiered wedding cake, decorated with pink and blue flowers to tone with the frocking of the bride and bridesmaids, was very much admired. ' Many .. congratulatory telegrams wore received and the happy couplo were the recipients of numerous" useful and beautiful presents. After the breakfast the guests were entertained with musical items and dancing, and later a dainty, supper was served.

When the bride and bridegroom left for the Southern Lakes district on their wedding tour, the bride was wearing a frock of dull rose-pink crepo suede with hat and swagger coat to match ,and with grey skin shoes. Air and Airs Rush will make their future home in Wellington.
